Not only does the Learning Gains project use play therapy as a vehicle for learning, but also another key factor in the design of this project is an element of gamification built into the professional development strategies in the form of badging. The badging concept has been developing worldwide over recent years and involves students of a project gaining recognition for their skills achievements through the allocation of badges according to prescribed criteria. In order to “earn” badges, teachers have to prove they have matched the criteria by showing evidence such as videos, digital mind maps of learning topics, photos of learners using the teaching methodologies from the course, and photos of learners’ work.
